Christian Scholarship & Biblical Learning
The Vision Corporation seeks to support Christian scholarship and Biblical learning among high school and college students nationwide.
To be effective in this objective, The Vision Corporation has established the Scholarship Program. This program was created with the mission
of addressing the need for Christian scholarship and Biblical learning by funding individual educational projects that seek to broaden and
enlarge the culture of Christian commitment. Some objectives of the Scholarship Program are:
- To encourage exploration of Christian intellectual traditions in various academic fields
- To foster specific projects of scholarship that draw on Christian traditions or are relevant to Christian concerns and interests
- To support both discipline-specific or interdisciplinary and collaborative educational projects that reflect the mission of broadening
and enlarging the culture of Christian commitment
- To provide funds for educational projects relevant to a student's understanding of Christian higher education, the relationship of faith
and learning, or the implications of faith in scholarship.
Facilitating this kind of scholarly engagement is at the heart of the Scholarship Program's mission.
The Vision Corporation's Scholarship Program will fill an important need in society by funding individual scholarship that is consonant with
the particularities of Christian identity. Criteria for funding individual educational projects will require substantive consideration of the
faith-learning issues at stake in the project.
Program Design
Individuals seeking educational funding are required to make application directly to the Vision Corporation. Individual applications will be
reviewed by the company's board of directions with careful consideration being given to the student's proposed course of study, past commitment to
Christian causes, goals for the future, and financial need.
Program Impact
The immediate beneficiaries of The Vision Corporation's Scholarship Program will be those students to whom the scholarships are awarded.
However, it is our belief that the students receiving the scholarships are not the only beneficiaries. Fellow students and educational
institutions will also benefit from witnessing the concept of faith-learning integration creditably brought to bear upon individual Christian
scholarship and Biblical learning. These benefits have the potential to effect a variety of venues as students collaborate together to foster
an enlarged culture of Christian commitment.
Through our support of Christian scholarship and Biblical learning, the Scholarship Program will promote the increase and national influence
of the Christian culture. Rigorous Christian scholarship and Biblical learning that is thoughtfully attuned is not currently the norm within
American higher education. Insofar as The Vision Corporation, through the Scholarship Program, can facilitate such scholarship, it is our goal
to reverse that norm. As Christian scholarship and Biblical learning become more typical and widely known, The Vision Corporation, through its
Scholarship Program, will have an even greater opportunity to facilitate Christian influence and commitment.
